Well, it was missing the Motobugs, so I wouldn’t say it was a perfect recreation.  
The 3DS version of Generations actually did recreate the stages well in 3D too, I felt, though it was limited to a sidescrolling style of movement. (Though, might not be bad as that keeps you from accidentally running off the stage like in SA2.)

It was accurate to the original level layout. The perfect recreation of a 2D level in 3D. I would love to see all the levels in the four Genesis games done that way.

I don’t see what’s wrong with Generations, as the anniversary game, the whole point was to bring back old levels, and I think it did a good job mixing the old & new together well. I like how it added new unexpected things to retro levels too.
 
And honestly getting all the emblems in SA2 was a pain, I almost gave up on it, and you don’t get much of a reward for it, as cool as it’s Green Hill was, it was kinda too short/easy, (annoyingly accidentally running off the edge aside) so I disagree it’s superior to Generations’ version.

Maybe. Again, I haven’t really looked too much into these Sonic games.
 
Something I felt was a real waste gameplay wise was Sonic Generations. I felt it defeats the point to change the layout of the levels completely. The reward you get for collecting all the Emblems in Sonic Adventure 2 was the way it should have been done. The way the first act of Green Hill Zone was brought to 3D.

Granted, the early games weren’t always “serious,” or “doom and gloom,” and even SA2 had it’s goofy moments too.
 
And there’s more to “Sonic Colors” then just an “amusement park in space.” That’s like saying “Windwaker” is only about Link saving his sister. (Which ironically, some did try to claim before it even came out.)

Admittedly I haven’t seen much of the later Sonic games but the premise ( amusements parks in space for example) doesn’t sound very interesting. I rather have something with the tone of the Last Story from Sonic Adventure 2.

I actually like the SA games too, and actually alot of Sonic fans do too. (Desite what IGN, and such say…)
 
Though, I don’t see what’s wrong with “cartoonier” humans, considering how Dr. Robotnik/Eggman looks. (In fact, the anime-ish humans look even more out of place in a Sonic game. Princess Elise looks more like a FF character then a Sonic one.)
 
And while I like a good story, that shouldn’t be the only focus in a Sonic game, because if the gameplay isn’t fun, it doesn’t matter how “epic” the story is.  
I will admit, “Forces” could’ve added more emotion to it. I liked “Lost World’s” scenes, and humor though.

I know I’m in the minority here but I like the tone of Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 (particularly as you get towards the end of the latter). From what I have seen of Sonic Unleashed and the games newer then that, it’s just not interesting any more. Too much fluff, cartoony humans, and not enough focus on the story.

I got slightly put off when Netflix didn’t have the full first season(they do now) and other sources had the episodes in different orders

That’s kinda nice to hear, after how the entire internet still bashes Sonic, I guess even “Sonic Mania” hasn’t been enough to redeem the series. (Heck, some bash it for being “pandering,” or “too retro.” I swear Sonic can’t ever win.)

And Coconut Fred’s Fruit Salad Island. (Which is basically a blatant SpongeBob/Gilligan’s Island rip-off.) Though, that one’s kinda old now.
 
Even Rob Paulson is ashamed of voicing the main character for that show. Same for the one-episode adaptation of “Bubsy the Bobcat.”

I actually enjoyed Sonic Boom also, even if it felt more like a Sonic parody, then a legit Sonic cartoon. Had some nice bit/BG characters too.  
It at least, treated Metal Sonic & Shadow more seriously, and with respect.
