Horses still have feet. The hoof is an oversized toenail. We also have the Wonderbolt Fleetfoot, for precedence.
Given the equine statues, the Nightmare Cliffs might be an option.

The writer is Ian Flynn, right? He mostly did Sonic the Hedgehog comics, but I think this is the very first MLP comic he wrote for.
