Well those people are wrong. EQG is its own weird thing. In one universe, they're students in a highschool, in another, they've been teachers to a bunch of highschoolers.
There may be an age gap between Discord and Fluttershy, yeah, but the main show, for all intents and purposes, treats her like an adult. The accusation that Discord is a pedo then is just wrong and an annoying meme at this point. A false meme. It's not even the same as Celestia and Twilight's dynamic where you could potentially accuse Celestia of grooming Twilight from a very young age into adulthood.
Discord met Fluttershy when she was already able to live alone, in a house, living in a town where she could go to the market, mail things at a post office, presumably pay taxes, and who knows she may even technically be self-employed because I can easily see her making money as a trusted local vet though admittedly I don't remember that being talked about directly.
I mean if one thing is certain it's canon that she's a year older than Pinkie because of one line given to us like way back in season 3 or something, and Pinkie is easily the most childlike of the whole group but she still has a job and rents a room. So yeah, the mane six are undeniably adults in their world. Twilight could have been on the younger side in season 1 but at this point realistically I'd expect her to be like at least 25 give or take.
