and should you be sad about it? no! even though the shows have ended, you dont have to necessarily see it as the end of your time as a fan. you can still be a fan of G4 even after it has ended.
 
And besides, like any show with expansive lore and settings, The Show itself is merely telling the story of a chapter in Equestrian’s History. FiM is just telling the story of just another chapter in Equestria’s own History. As the Pillars of Equestria and the Founders of Equestria were the Mane 6’s precursors and the Student six will take the place of the mane 6. Constants and variables. The Series finale should be seen merely as the ending of another era in Equestria’s history. As life goes on. Even in the EqG universe, life would still go in even if the shorts end abruptly or even after it has its own finale (if there is one)

but just because its over doesn’t mean that you have to end your love for G4. even though it’s over, its not going to magically disappear from existence and you can revisit the complete series at any time

Speaking of Star Trek, Deep Space 9 wasn’t popular at all until it hit Netflix because of its large story arcs. Understanding what was going on in an episode often depended on having seen previous episodes which could be easily missed on TV. Being able to binge watch them on Netflix and in order as was intended really boosted its popularity.

indeed it did, star trek was ahead of its time when it first came out, nothing proved this more then the fact that it didnt hit its stride of popularity till several years after its original air date.

The end may not be “the end”, but the ending is still something special and emotional if you’ve been on the bandwagon for much longer. I joined in 2011. I fell off the bandwagon around 2017 but did come back in time for the final season.

for the vast majority of us we know this isnt the end laughs good old animated james predicted it in a parody of slim shady he wrote some time back (the exact line, sung by pinkie pie is as follows ‘at this rate when we’re canceled us ponies will live on thru brony artist pencils truer words), things may slow down for awhile but the fandom will go, new art will be made, new ideas will be shared, new stories will be writen  
the show will continue on in syndication for years to come as hasbro milks it dry for all its worth so it will always be there to draw in new followers, just cause there not writeing any new episode does not mitigate the impact of what is already there.
