There was one “kinda fantasy but not really” book series. And there was the Necromancer as the main antagonist in one of them who wanted to rule the World (because of course he did). He got his ass kicked and ended up in a modern world, when heroe came to finish the job he was met with pretty much the same thing as Gamer Luna. His reason was that he doesn’t need the world any more, he has thousands of them on his hard drive, he can do things that he couldn’t even imagine before ending up in that new technological world.

Me too actually. I imagine she’d be more of a retro gamer, prefering stuff like the old arcade games, NES, Gameboy, TurboGrafX-16, Sega Genesis, and such, but still be open to new ones.
I don’t care if some are sick of the Gamer Luna meme, this is adorable.
I find gamer Luna more puzzling than anything. You would think that a character so displaced by time would be the last one people would associate with a modern form of entertainment, let alone consider skilled at it. And yet that’s not the case. It really makes me wonder as to the reason behind it. Does it make sense for people because they associate being up all night with caffeine fueled all night gaming sessions? Is there a deeper significance, such as the idea that someone who would be out of touch with society after so long away would find solace and companionship in a virtual environment, as some have in real life? Is it (alternatively) as simple as her having been very popular right away in the early days of the show, and just having been shoehorned into the role? Undoubtedly there is an answer somewhere in all those concepts, but I really wonder which one is most responsible.
… Anyway, pretty nice picture, all things considered.
