Eh, that’s because they aren’t really “evil” in the traditional sense, just selfish, self-serving jerks. Being greedy =/= wanting to destroy/dominate all of Equestria.

The makers of it must be very fond of that game.
It is a very popular NES game, and pretty good. The remake improved some of it’s minor flaws though. (Such as adding an intro stage, and proper final stage.)

Actually I wouldn’t be surprised if DuckTales(2017) playing the moon theme was fan service and and that led to one of the best moments of the entire show
@northern haste
Depends on how it’s done, but some fans act like anything like that, is “fan-service, or nostalgia-pandering, and shouldn’t be.”
I even see some hate on stuff like Super Mario for “nostalgia pandering.” It just sounds like an excuse to me.
And of course, if series never references a past canon, or something, then fans get mad for that, as well.

True, though honestly I didn’t watch G1 much as a ‘90s kid. (I remember my older sister liked the movie, and I loved the Smooze.) I just like seeing new versions to old characters, much like the 2012 TMNT series did, and the later Archie Sonic comics, and such did.
I’m mostly familiar with G1 thanks to this site, so it’s not favoritism to G1, or anything.
I did like how they rebooted Toola Roola (G3) as a filly like they did Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo.
