Or, you know, they do these faces because it’s just them having fun and trying to insert some comedy into the episode. Again, they’ve been doing this since the very first episode. They certainly don’t do them because of memes, especially since they’re not allowed to look up fan-created content.

They make these stupid faces precisely because they do get picked up and spammed and spamming them popularizes it (free advertising) which translates into people buying more toys. That’s why they do it.

They merely draw on the past for inspiration, that’s all, to make sure that what they’re doing is in line with continuity, as well as the chatacters’ personalities. They rely don’t rely too heavily on the past seasons. They just use them as in-jokes or as nods to the fans. They clearly have full confidence in their own ability.

I didn’t have that problem with seasons 5-9. Characters change and evolve over time. You’re really telling me that you’d rather have them stay the exact same way throughout the entire run of the show. That would be boring and uninteresting. No one would watch it.

It was because Scootaloo was idolizing ponies that weren’t meant to be idolized. Ponies who don’t care about the safety of children and who don’t care about properly testing their equipment and can’t be bothered to make sure that their stunts are safe are not worth idolizing.
