The only criticism I'd give that episode is the plot & twist are pretty cliché, (especially with cartoons) but admittedly depressed/crazed Pinkie is why most fans like myself still found it amusing. It was also the first time we see a different side to Pinkie.
 
Still, MLP manages to make even the more cliché episode plots entertaining, or have new twists on them, I feel.
