Director said that Hasbro didn’t allow Mane6 ship getting canon and that its easier to convince them to allow side cahracters like Maud and Big Mac to get shipped. So that mean there was an intent to make Fluttercord canon but they coudn’t make it through with Hasbro and only managed to make ship teasing. But for all intent and purpose, they should be considered a pair after S9 ends.

True, I can tell you from personal experience that this ship alone brings in quite a lot of fans and people who predict this as a crush thing from all ages and audiences. You wouldn’t believe some of the stuff I saw that this ship can inspire and do for people. While no Discord ship or man six one would ever really be ACTUAL REAL TIME canon (sadly) there is something called prediction and behavioral pattern and from what the show gives us. It constantly implies that Discord has at least a small crush on her. But again, the show constantly displays that and the only people I saw rejecting this premise is like either very rare people or just anti shippers in general solely due to the bias part of them. Like, I noticed a lot of build up and “closeness” between these 2 characters which always gave me that whole “dude this isn’t how men act with one female friend of theirs just to be totally platonic”. The way the show displays him as obsessive over her and just how much he raves on about her and the fact they make discord like… ALL about HER all the time is just…….ehhrm..it’s really hard to NOT notice that. seriously. It just feels like shipping. Although I think Big Jim admitted that they ship tease fluttercord. Meanwhile they confirm that no ships actually become canon but the fact they ship tease it and admitted that just goes to show that we weren’t crazy that whole time because they did it on purpose. Plus that isn’t how men act around one single female friend just to be like TOTALLY platonic with that girl. no way sorry.

Unless they sink it as QuibbleDash, i think this ship will be still popular even if not confirmed. There was just too much teasing for people to just assume that they found different love interest suddenly after S9.

I know right, I noticed that to. Especially after bronies react as well. Let’s just say they ship tease things on purpose to rile fans up and fluttershy and discord has always gotten strong teases their way since the show focuses on discord and fluttershy so much. It’s kind of hard to not notice that. Even people who dont care for the show notice this and or people of younger age as well.

Yup, thats why it make sense why show staff would tease them. Major close friendship get teases by the animation staff - StarTrix, RariJack or LyraBon. Discoshy has the advantage of getting more with writers adding dialogs that boost the ship like Nick adding Spike teasing them or Discord very much talking a lot about Fluttershy throughout his whole show career and especially in S6 finale.

To be fair, Twilight and Discord aren’t personal friends. They’re more just acquaintances. Fluttershy and Discord have a deep, personal friendship.

Don’t confuse your own opinions with facts. The show staff shipped them many times and both Nick and Jim admitted to intentionaly shipping. Stop twisting facts. The only reason why they aren’t canon as Big Ma and Sugar Belle is literally Hasbro wanting both Discord and Fluttershy to be single for promotional material and toys and future licensing of G4.

you don’t know anything about nick or them. They support the friendship between these characters, they do not think the same as a shipper. The show is about friendship. Tease is not the same as a confirmation. They know that they are best friends with strong friendship. only the ignorant people believe that they are a couple. This is supposed to be a tv kid show not a tv adult show. All this is considered friendship

What I mean is Nick Confalone is a shipper, so of course he would want to add a line like that in the episode. It would be of his interest.
As for the “entire studio of animators”, obviously they just have to do their job and animate the trascript. I don’t know what your point was there.

He could have just ignore it if their relationship was clearly platonic. You don’t see Spike ever ship any of his friends like FlutterDash or CheesePie. And the fact that Hasbro allowed it speaks for itself. And then you had entire studio of animators and Directors animating Spike teasing Discord over Fluttershy like it was very natural and obvious thing. Because the show staff doesnt involve with fandom so they don’t know about Dislestia. For them Discord and FLuttershy are the only obivious pairing like Lyra with Bon Bon

I agree its not confirmed, but Spike was teasing romantic aspect of it. It was a valentine day, you don’t tease someone over platonic feelings of friendship on that day, since Spike could do that every day of the year. Not to mention they were discussing Big Mac romantic love and not platonic friendship with Sugar Belle. So Spike in canon did tease Discord as any shipper.
Don’t take things seriously, this is friendship. Well, it’s canon but not what you think. Don’t compere Big Mac and SugarBelle with y’know, that’s not the same. Spike is just mentioning the friendship between Discord and Fluttershy.

Its half fanon and half canon. Its hard to say, since they aren’t confirmed as romantic but in the show they also do things that platonic friends woudn’t do. Like Discord would never do this caressing to Twilight and Twilight would never blush if Discord saved her from Chrysalis in S6 finale. Not to mention Spike only ever teased two characters: Big Mac over SugarBelle and Discord over Fluttershy.
