Perhaps, but OCs don’t have the background and backstory of established characters, they don’t have the weight or importance.
It’s love of the character that drives people to redesign them, I’ll be the first to say I love Celestia and that see would be better with a warmer color scheme.

Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with creating different designs for already established characters, heck, I tend to do that mainly because it’s fun to try out different designs. But hey, that’s just my opinion.

She doesn’t even look like Celestia. If someone’s gonna go to such lengths to change a character, why not just make an oc at that point?
