What’d you expect from the writers, consistency?

Outside of Torch, fully grown dragons have been pushed to the side since season 2.  
Unless if you count the story in Campfire Tales.

I think it’s kind of obvious by now Dragons are basically like Saiyans when it comes to parenting.
