Yo… So… Hold up. Are the writers completely retconning Discord? I know IDW comics are their own canon.
 
…But this is saying Discord was NEVER a bad guy. He was always good, just blamed for other peoples crimes. I love having Discord be a good guy. But don’t make him a Mary Sue!

Nah the ponies all thought he was responsible for 100% of what happened back in the day. It does make it an easier swallow to see why he was so willing to shackle himself in order to play nice with everyone though.

Notoriously Divine Tagger - Consistently uploads images above and beyond the minimum tag requirements. And/or additionally, bringing over the original description from the source if the image has one. Does NOT apply to the uploader adding several to a dozen tags after originally uploading with minimum to bare tagging.

… well, if nothing else this explains the contradiction in Discord only being a fan of mild chaos versus his stint in villainy.
 
Curious to see how/if they’ll address him trying to do it all over again in “The Return of Harmony”, though.

Character development usually refers to character learning a lesson and his personality developing for it.  
this isn’t that, this is more like redemption by rewriting

I don’t mind the idea that he wasn’t really evil back in his true chaotic days. It makes it easier to understand why the ponies were so willing to reform him if he doesn’t have generations worth of victims and literal skeletons in his closet.
 
 
Plus, being the comics, you can disregard this bit of lore if you choose.
