"Princess Twilight Sparkle" already did that by showing they just found the Elements and zapped Discord, no fight nor drama. And that they were willing to risk redeeming Discord show his actions weren't as evil as we assumed.
I understand your dissatisfaction, but keep in mind this is the culmination of the direction the show took these things. And how could they erase it without bringing it up? (Anon-A-Miss showed ignoring it won't make thepadinslike go away.) And I doubt the comics even have enough internal continuity to make discounting it meaningful.
