In fact, just about the only time that she seems like a brat to me is when they are in The Everfree Forest looking for Fluttershy’s chicken and she says, “That’s NOT how you call a chicken!”.
And given how early in the series that is it could be explained/explained away as “Early Installment Weirdness”, as they call it on TV Tropes.
