I can just imagine there a bar somewhere for villains who were ultimately destroyed by their own writers :)

Actually King Sombra had more impressive showings compared to Grievius. He single handly conqured The Crystal Empire Twice, Canterlot, hid the Crystal Heart and mindwiped aeveryone from remebering, while making painful for those that try, made multiple traps fear ans magic based, can create mind altering helmets or magic spells on a whim, has deadly accurate crystal magic, faked his death in order to destroy the Tree of Harmony, put the Mane 6’s morale on a all time low twice, and has alternate timeline where is one the biggest threats Equestria ever faced.

It gets better if you include his comic lore. His casual defeating of Pricess Mi Amore, Celestia, Luna, and others by pettrfying them. In Mi AMore case he shattered her to pieces. His Fiendship is Magic backstory, his Mirror self being cool as well helps as well. Not to mention his arrogant yet hammy performance is all done with a style he owns. He is arguably one of the more sucessful villians in comparison. The main reason he lost was to serve to themes of the plot. Heck if you remove from the his debut episode or Discord from the Season 9 Opener then he would have won.

For if it was not for Spike freeing her from the Fear inducing Door trap she be still stuck there or taking the Crystal Heart to Cadence Som. Discord’s faking his defeat and motivating the Mane 6 into regaining their mojo then they would have been paralyzed with self loathing induced fear and have lost.

While in comparison Grevious just getting weaker and more patheic with each appearance. Adam Taurus while intially strong and intimidating has some serious motive decay and plot induced nerfing. Which only served to cultivate into a creepy stalker Virgil wannabe extremist hate sink that he is now. Then again many people kept confusing his character as a deeper meaning when really he wasn’t. IN fact the actual character they THOUGHT he was being was actually Sienna. THough we all know happened to her. Heck even Illia was a better example. Nope fans gotta have angry red and black edgelord abuser as “Faunus avenger”.

Say what you will of King SOmbra, but he still had a balanced showing overall. Though most importantly still remained true to himself.

And so another great villain is reduced to mediocrity.

Farewell Grievous and Sombra. I will remember your debut appearances fondly.

Non-Fungible Trixie -

Poor Grievous, he could take on 3 Jedi Masters, a padawan and knight by himself, but couldn’t even hurt Ashoka in a one on one fight.
FuckyouImbetter

Grevious was great in Clone Wars (his first appearance) and horrible in the movie, but Sombra much better this second appearance.
First time was boring af. One of the worst two parters.
