I still can’t believe a person like yourself would work for a company-while-not-as-big-as-Marvel-or-DC-but-a-recognizable-comic-company-nonetheless IDW. Ignore whoever impatient salt block who bitches on you on the story. You have all the time in the world in your line of work, both this “manga” and IDW. I hope this story goes on and on, cause I’m lovin’ it.

not everyone in the usa makes minimum wage, or works full time. also mexico, russia, the ukraine, brazil, colombia, venezuela, egypt, china, uruguay, and a number of other places.

I’m not saying $1000 a month is enough, with how worthless dollars are these days. I’m saying people will be salty about it, because they have to get by on less, and it’s okay if they’re salty, even if they’re wrong.

Where do you live that $1000 a month is “a lot”? In the US that’s not even minimum wage, which itself isn’t enough to live on.

he’s not failing, though. he’s just not updating anon’s pie adventure very quickly.

and people really do ask artists they like to give them some way to contribute to a project, monetarily or otherwise. it’s a classic response, because it happens a lot, not because he’s lying.

I agree that getting mad at commenters for being mean is kind of unnecessary.

I did APA because i enjoyed doing it, i did it for free to begin with, had no patreon until people started to ask me to make one.

Oh come on now… That is the most classic, baseline, typical response. “Ohh I didn’t want to make a platform where people give me free money, but people begged me to make it! Who am I to deny them?…”.

@redweasel
but I am indeed working on a paying job for IDW now, and if you guys really think that I should try to survive with 1000 dollars a month in Finland, then bad news, there would be no APA at all, as I could not even pay my rent. There’s a goal in my patreon where it shows what I need base minimum to make a living solely off patreon to be able to focus solely on my own comics.

“…but the money people donate me isn’t enough! Despite this not requiring 8+ hours a day and I could potentially work a second part time job (oh wait I am with IDW who pays me as well) I can’t afford to live off the meager funds I’m getting!”

What kind of incentive do you want? It’s been over a quarter of a year. Do you want more money? Less input (I haven’t replied in over a month)?

Just own up to your short comings. At the end of the day you don’t owe us anything, but you’re making it out like mean comments and lack of funds are the reasons you’re failing, but neither are the case….

eh, you have to expect some sort of salt. people are gonna be upset when they want something and don’t get it. it just shows how good you are that people are clamoring for more, even if they’re being dicks about it. most of us aren’t too worried about updates, and if you didn’t enjoy it we’d be upset if you tried to force it. we’re just not y’know, sending abusive private messages to you demanding that you stop if you don’t enjoy it or there will be consequences to pay. still, keep in mind that $1000 a month is a lot in most of the world, and people have a hard time getting that you don’t actually get to have any of that money b/c of cost of living, so they’re only upset because of misunderstanding. I don’t think anyone expects you to move to uruguay just so you can afford to draw more of buffanon experiencing sexual tension with cute little ponies.

and… it’s okay to be frustrated when you can’t continue something you love because you’re busy making ends meet. it’s okay to get upset at seeing us over here griping about it. I guess I’m just saying thanks for caring about people, even if it gets you down when they lash out at you, and good luck with drawing what you enjoy, whatever it is. I might not have $1000 a month to spend, but I’ll sure appreciate it whatever it is.

Well, it is a fair argument but I am indeed working on a paying job for IDW now, and if you guys really think that I should try to survive with 1000 dollars a month in Finland, then bad news, there would be no APA at all, as I could not even pay my rent. There’s a goal in my patreon where it shows what I need base minimum to make a living solely off patreon to be able to focus solely on my own comics.

I have full plans to resume APA and finish the story, but this kind of salty shit is definitely not a good incentive for that. I did APA because i enjoyed doing it, i did it for free to begin with, had no patreon until people started to ask me to make one. I am not the one who demands to be paid for APA, i am getting what is essentially tips and support for my efforts, and nothing I do that’s APA or bowsette related has been in any way paywalled, i do not blackmail people and tell them to pay me or I don’t finish the comic, so you anonymous whiners like Background Pony #BD90 have no leg to stand on. I am not the one demanding any money, I am drawing comics because it is fun, and people like that make it a while lot less fun. False flagging my art and sending abusive messages to me in private messages and bitching about me in message boards making up lies, shits like that are not an audience I wish to make happy with my efforts.

yeah that’s true enough, I suppose. I also know though how you can be passionate about something, and just never get around to it, and you just can’t stand the thought of hastily ending it. there are many who really wish cowboy bebop had never ended.

I agree that people shouldn’t pay as much if it starts coming out slower though.
Background Pony #B47C
maybe he’s working on another IDW comic!

Maybe, but between the IDW comics, Bowsette fanarts and whatever else I just get salty when artists make a highly popular watched comic and either cancels the comic or heavily delay it. If you’re going to pull that, just finish that series THEN pursue whatever desires you please. (and I get it, passion dies, you want to switch projects, etc)

When I work a job for a client (I design websites) I don’t give them 90% of the project and just give the last 10%, 1% at a time every three months. I finish my project before I go to the next, even though I’m not exactly motivated or want to because I know just stopping when a client or group are waiting for my product is a dick move.)

(I know the next comment from someone: “Well it’s free!”. Sure (sorta)! Well people have invested their time into watching. They’ve become patreons(I’m one of) together paying OVER $1000 DOLLARS A MONTH for things like this.

When you get to becoming bored of a series you should just end the series, rather than string your fans on endlessly.
That’s what I think anyway.
