Duolinguo sent vaguely threatening texts to its users on April Fool’s Day saying that they’d missed a lesson, which would be followed by some sort of warning message (one person got a bomb evacuation alert).  
They also had a thing set up where you could supposedly pay a monthly fee to have an animatronic Duo the Owl physically show up at your house daily remind you of your lessons, and have him be either supportive, depressed or passive-aggressive.

Though I saw different one where it was Korean lessons, not Psanish, and the following message was an evacuation alert for an incoming missile. That would be pretty good ponified, only maybe with a broken Pinkie Promise and a raging party horse alert or something.
