“Listen, I get that finding food has been rough for you, and that sucks. But I suggest you don’t try walking straight into Ponyville again. A lot of the ponies there aren’t like me, and will get super freaked out by the sight of you.”  
The manticore snarled and growled lowly at the pony in front of him.
 
“Okay yeah, fair enough. But you can just visit my mom and she’ll take care of ya! She’s just on the edge of the woods, too, so you should have no trouble finding her.”  
The beast’s growl became louder as he took a step forward.
 
“Hey, hey, there’s no need for that,” Burrow chided. “I just don’t want you getting hurt by some scared ponies, alright? If you want, I can show you to my mom’s place, she’s taken care of all kinds of animals and magical creatures. Do you want help or not?”  
Still apprehensive, but weary, the manticore let out a huff and closed his mouth. He gave a small nod.
 
“Great! Now come on, I know a shortcut through the forest.”  
“?”  
“Oh yeah, I come here lots of times by myself. There ain’t a beast in these woods who doesn’t know not to mess with me!”

Wood Burrow likes to hang out in the Everfree Forest, where she can be left to her own devices and maybe strike up some friendly conversations or sparring with one of the local monsters. Like her mother Fluttershy, she can communicate with animals, but prefers conversation with less friendly-looking beasts.
