G4 will probably only become a ghost fandom in the next few years. Just like how Keroro Gunso ended but still has a lot a fans as well as fan-art, ocs, fanfics, etc.

The problem is it’s minuscule at best, to the point where they tend to barely count in the grand scheme of things. The only thing about the status quo that’s changed that I can remember is Ned marrying Bart’s teacher.
 
The kids are still young man attending school, Maggie has to learn to talk, etc.
 
This is the problem with shows that rely too heavily on “the status quo is God” formula, only minor things change but everything gets hit by the reset button at the end of an episode.

At the same time though they are constantly retconning the character’s pasts. Like every so often they will make up a different story for how Homer and Marge met set in a different time period.

Actually the Simpsons DOES have continuity. Alot of episodes likes to acknowledged & reference events from past seasons & episodes, especially with episodes that involves Sideshow Bob, Santa’s Little Helper, Homer’s mom & Ned’s wife.

Reruns don’t change.
 
I mean, we will still see Fluttershy’s friends being hostile to Discord in past seasons after his reforming. One of the reasons why I dislike Fluttercord, anger that can lead a possible betrayal. Same thing with Twilight being mean to Cadance before the wedding, Twilight and Pinkie being hypocritical (in Party of Two for the latter and No Second Prances for the former), Moondancer being mean to Twilight because god forbid Celestia sends her to Ponyville.

In all seriousness, don’t worry, I’m 100% sure Lighting Dust and RD will end their rivalry this season. I also know that  
Grogar, King Sombra,Cozy Glow, Tierk are all in the first two episodes
 
I’m certain we will see Scorpan this time.

There are countless characters that deserve to be revisited (Babs Seed, Diamond Tiara/Silver Spoon, Lightning Dust, Rolling Thunder, Short Fuse, Suri Polomare, the Pillars, Gilda/Gabby/Greta, Coco Pommel, Autumn Blaze, Iron Will, Bright Mac and Pear Butter, Sky Stinger and Vapor Trail, Cheese Sandwich, Daring Do, Ahuizotl, Pharynx, Wind Rider, Gladmane and many others)
They can also show Scorpan, Grogar, Katrina, Zebras, Centaurs, Minotaurs, Abessinia and a whole heap of other things one day.
We still have to see the CMC Manehattan, meet other Zebras, hear more stories about AJs parents and learn more about Trixies past and her father.
Autumn Blaze must meet Pinkie and Maud.
Limestone, Marble and Cheerilee need their special someponies.
Discord could have an adventure with the CMC.
Spike has yet to meet his real parents.
AND I want Rainbow to reconcile with Lightning and start a friendly rivalry with her.
 
I have more than enough great ideas for a few additional seasons.  
Unfortunately that won´t happen now.

I don’t know, it’s already showing some signs. Like inflating the cast in order to go over morals and lessons that have already been covered and usually done better the first time. It’s been doing that for for roughly the past 3 seasons.

Even if MLP:FiM did go as long as those shows, I would still love it just as much as I did when I first saw it.

I started watching The Simpsons when Season 13 was on its last quarter and remember watching Season 14 when the episodes first premiered. I liked those episodes back then and I just feel guilty when most people say that those seasons aren’t part of the “good season” era.

I’m surprised that people look back at FOP with so much love. I always thought it was trash, albeit very watchable trash. I’d argue that the first season was good, same with Family guy, but neither of them are even worth talking about in the same context as The Simpsons.

Mlp never staled. IMO the only time it tripped was in S6. But S7 is tied with S4 as my favorite, and even thought it had some stinkers I thought the S8 was pretty good as well, and I think it’s quite overhated. In any case this pretty much expressed my thought on the matter. Better ending it now before REALLY becoming bad.

    Fans: YESSSS! ALL ABOARD THE HYPE TRAIN!!!! “  
    (And this happened every single time a new season was announced, from s2 to s9)
     
  • Fox: Announces new season of the Simpsons  
    Fans: “Please, let it die already!!”
