Description

Based on the SONIC TOP 10 REASONS from the original Archie Sonic miniseries in 1992-1993, rather than proving the Sonic comic books have no cholesterol in them, Antoine of the Sonic world shows in a mock chart that IDW’s Sonic the Hedgehog comics are high sales than a few of the other IDW licenced titles (Take that, IDW’s My Little Pony comics!)

Sally isn’t in IDW, you must be thinking of the post-reboot Archie Comic issues. (Where Sally wears clothes.) Though, I haven’t seen any real SalXNic hints honestly, and Ian might’ve been joking about that. (He sometimes jokes, or teases things, and gauges whether fans want that, or not.)

I will admit, I’m not too big on SalXNic honestly, if that was their intention. I understand they’re not allowed to ‘ship Sally with Sonic anymore, (same goes for Amy) only a li’l teasing/flirting is allowed, but basically Sega doesn’t want Sonic in a permanent relationship, and that’s understandable, due to all the “SonSal VS SonAmy VS SonMina VS ect.” ‘shipper wars making it impossible for the entire fanbase to pleased with one ‘ship. Still, it seems kinda unnecessary to ‘ship her off with somebody else, or what is basically her computer.

I do kinda agree about Amy, she needs some balance between “Cutesy, annoying, comical, hyperactive love-struck, fangirl,” and “strong-willed, smart, competent, butt-kicking action girl,” without being one extreme, or the other. (Which she tends to go back and fourth in some canons. Like the “Sonic Boom” series.) If she’s too competent, and lacks her cutesy/comical traits, then she kinda stops being Amy. I haven’t seen how she is portrayed in the IDW series much though.

Ok, don’t pull the “you’re a white knight” bull-honkey on me please. (That just makes you look like a reverse-SJW.) How am I? All I’m saying is, you got alot of your facts about the Sonic comics, IDW, Archie, and Ian wrong. You seem to be misunderstanding what I’m saying. Reread what I said in previous posts.

Is there proof that he did that? (And just showing what may happen isn’t necessarily a “promise”) Besides, comics tend to change when they’re in production, and if Sega said he can’t use the Sky Patrol, and such, then there’s nothing he can do about. A writer like Ian doesn’t make all the choices, his comic editors, and execs at Sega are basically his bosses. So he might’ve had to change things whether he wanted to, or not.

Some games have some contunity, in fact, the old Archie comic Sonic series had alot of game adaptations, and story tie-ins in it’s canon, (like Sonic Spinball, Triple Trouble, 3D Blast, the Adventure games, Unleashed, and many more) so they could actually reference, or tie in many events from the games into the comics actually if they wanted too.
The British Fleetway “Sonic the Comic” series also had some of the game stories in it’s canon too, and so did the Sonic X anime/comic. So it’s actually nothing new, or unusual in the Sonic comics.

Sally appears. She’s now a Les with Nicole thanks to Ian… Which makes no sense, considering I felt Nicole and Sally had either a Daughter/mother relationship, or a Sister bond. Not a lover’s bond. Not only that, I saw quite a few characters in the IDW Sonic comics who looked like members of the freedom fighters, but deaged.

Also, I don’t mind Amy. I do mind if she’s basically a Fangirl or “Empowering”, because more often than not, they never get it right. It’s Ironic that I saw more fan stories that get Amy right, making her mature or grow up, or even drop her almost Yandere bond with Sonic.

Frankly, that was the few things I liked about both Forces and Boom, that Amy was actually not trying to jump Sonic for whatever reason.

And you never said that. If you had, I wouldn’t have answered like that. Stop trying to white Knight. You’re doing that right now.

And he made those promises in one of his comics. He showed off Sky Patrol, and even had an entire blow-up page dedicated to it. Also, the Story trying to follow the Games is already a problem, not merely because of IDW, but also because Sega doesn’t even give the Games any continuity.

Then why did you say “I hate IDW”, when I clearly said “IDW Sonic?”

I never said that. I just said you might be listening to IDW haters, or Ian haters too much.

Also, Ian made a lot of promises… And then never upheld them.
He boasted that the Sky Patrol would return, but it’s only other appearance, was with it Taken out, offscreen.

What promises? I never seen him make any promises, or even mention that. Plus, sense IDW is a whole new canon, they probably aren’t allowed to use that, or anything from the old Archie canon/timeline.

He promised the Freedom Fighters would return… And while they did, they may as well not exist. Seriously, Amy Rose literally stole their scene soon after their appearance.

First, off he never said that, he said they might be able to use them some day, but he didn’t promise he would, and if Sega won’t let him, he obviously can’t mention that due to NDA.

And second, the Freedom Fighters never came back in IDW, and Amy has actually appeared no more then any other characters.
In fact, ironically, Amy-fans used to bash Ian for “not using her enough.”

Is there any proof of that? Which one said that? Or you just going by what IDW-haters say/make-up?

Also, from my own personal experiences around writer Ian Flynn’s old message board, and people whom are friends with him, he’s not like that at all, he’s very respectfull to his fans, and has even stood up for his critics before. One time I saw on the Bumbleking forums, (Ian Flynn’s message board) a guy ranted that he didn’t like Ian’s writing, and wouldn’t mind him getting replaced, and when people got angry over that, Ian stood up for him, and said he has a right to his opinions.
Does that sound like a hateful person to you?

(You say “his writers,” as if he’s in charge of the series, but he isn’t, so you’re kinda ignorant about how the Sonic comic is made, no offense) I’ve never seen anything political in Sonic from Ian, or any current Sonic IDW writer.
(In fact, ironically, Ex-Archie-writer Ken Penders was more political & controversial. Like making Rotor spout anti-gun statements, which made said character look like a hypocrite, as he has used a BFG before.)

And actually from what I hear the Sonic IDW has done pretty well, and Sonic Forces was just a starting point for the new/current canon, and not what the whole series is.

Not only that, because of how the Writer Ian Flynn and a lot of his Writers ‘handled’ the characters when they finally added the Freedom Fighters, as well as their injection of their Political beliefs, and the blatant hatred of their own fans, as well as sticking to the Terrible Sonic Forces storyline, IDW Sonic has Bombed terribly.

Seriously, one of the Writers actually called a Fan trying to ask what was going on, a “Nazi”, because he didn’t like what the Fan said.

Any sales figures to back these up? Apparently, MLP is selling enough to support two simultaneously running comic books, while Sonic still has only one running series under IDW.

Ironically, Antoine doesn’t even exist in the IDW series. (He’s from the old Archie Sonic comics, and old DiC cartoon.)
