As I said, it was probably an old sock she was trying to get rid off and the kind of girl Rarity is, probably doesn’t want that filthy sock any where and would be embarrassed if she found out one of her friends found out she owns it.
She is about being clean and fashionable but it doesn’t mean she can leave mistakes like that sock without knowing time to time. If it was hers, probably a forgotten mistake on her part if you know what I mean.
