Leading her to a decision that she would help ponies not experience the same pain she felt. So, like the other 6, the rainboom leads to a big change in her life. And eventual meeting with her future close friends, cause, if you think about it, destiny did have to figure out a way to get her where she belongs.

Considering that at the time she blamed cutie Mark’s first her friend leaving, her getting a cutie mark would have been a traumatizing thing for him. Most likely enough that she would block the whole experience from her memory, therefore not remembering the event.
