Fine theory, but it’s no more valid than my own that a bad experience would give her a bad association. We’re both informing her behavior based on nothing more than our own opinions of how she would react. You have your reasons for your assumptions, I have my own. So, kindly stop assuming yours is ‘correct’ and everyone else is ‘shady’.

It’s not that my headcanon is true, but it doesn’t make up any new trait for AJ.
 
An established character is likely to change its behavior only under similar circumstances as the already established ones, AJ has not been shown to change her tastes or points of view from anything less than hard lessons. If a heated argument could change her mind about a fruit, then that would be a new trait for AJ. All I’m saying is that such change on AJ’s character is not likely to happen, it is possible but not more than remaining the way she is.
 
My “headcanon” is nothing more than taking what we have seen and assume that things remain the same until shown otherwise.

Seriously, AJ has shown to favor apples over any other fruit, but she still likes other fruits and she has been shown to like strawberries canonically. She doesn’t have the petty type to hate a food she already found tasty because of a bad interaction with a pony related to said fruit.

Shady? You’re assuming that in some way, Applejack’s opinion of strawberries remains totally unaffected by a pony who literally grows them, and who simultaneously insulted her life’s work. “She liked them on pancakes, therefore she likes them forever.” is the message you seem to be sending.
 
I’m basing my assumption on human nature. If you’ve never had an opinion on a food before, then someone comes along and says x is awsome and since you like y you can go to hell, you will tend to associate that food with said jerk.
 
I will grant, however, human nature is pretty shady, so you may have a point.

This pic seems to imply otherwise. I imagine before meeting Miss Sunrise she was neutral on strawberries and heavily in favor of pancakes. But having a negative association can easily put you off a fruit.

applejack is having trouble getting into it she hates strawberries so much. that’s why the little floating hearts go 3:1 rarity’s way.

Applejack dares have a strawberry on the edge of her mouth even after Strawberry Sunrise told her that Strawberries are better than apples. She eats the fruit that is not of her family’s fruit. Showing how much she cares about Rarity and how far she’s willing to go for her that she will eat a strawberry for Rarity and with Rarity. /)³(\
