Hmmm…basically, she had alot of ideas for FiM that Hasbro shot down. My best example is that Princess Luna was actually supposed to have a major role in the season, perhaps learning alongside Twilight. But, because Hasbro executives of the time thought she was a villain, they cut her from the show. Mind you, of course, she was redeemed at the end of the first episodes.
Lauren wasn’t that happy with Hasbro’s control over the show, so she left.

Any reality where FiM only lasted 1 season is one not worth visiting.
Interesting to see that people got worried about Faust leaving. Seems very similar to the worry the fandom is experiencing now with a new era of MLP approaching.
What do you think makes MLP something that lasts beyond just FiM?
Back then, fans were cautious about season 2 since we heard that Faust left at some point. The premiere was said to not count since it was a leftover from season 1. These days we know that Faust worked on all season 2 episodes in some form (Hearth’s Warming Eve was the last one she was there until the final version if I recall correctly).
They did some changes to the season 2 finale after she left though. Shining Armor wasn’t going to be Twilight’s brother and Cadance was a unicorn.
How would you feel if My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic had been one of those shows that only lasted one season and The Return of Harmony was the series finale?
That’s because The Return of Harmony was originally produced as the ending to season one and then delayed to season two. That’s why it has the old opening and the episodes have none of the Derpy scenes later seen in season 2. I think she even appears without the walleyes (which is what the second half of season one was like before they edited her eyes due to fan reaction to her appearance in the original episode).
The delay was well known back then but this detail is not as well known these days.
@Officer Hotpants Early installment weirdness in action. Season 1 wasn’t really consistent with the glow. Sometimes there’d be no glow. And when the magic did have the glow, it seemed nearly every unicorn (and Celestia) had the same color. Season 2 was when they started changing the colors of the magic and started getting more consistent with it.
