Well the characters themselves said they were friends in the show, and given how they were saying so it seemed clear to me the writers were trying to make a point… or at least have some fun at fans expense. Either they were saying in their own why that Lyra and Bon Bon being a couple was false or just trolling by saying they were friends.
Also, you’re exaggerating, be careful of that.
It’s not official that they’re “just friends”. Get over it and deal with it. Thousands and thousands ship these two (if not millions).
A majority of the tags are administered based on appearence. One example being rape art where the creator(s) attempt to indicate the act of sex involves no rape despite all appearences. The examples of which that I could give would be too subtle to explain in one sentence. lol
