I mean she certainly wasn’t written as a good character in the later seasons, not by a long shot, but she certainly wasn’t outright horrendous like in S6 and S7. There was only so much they could do with Starlight after all the Creator’s Pet stuff they pulled in S6 and S7.
@chubbyninja89
Agreed. Plus her chemistry with Trixie isn’t bad either. Many of her scenes with Sunburst and Trixie weren’t as horrible as the rest. And if we’re being fair, Starlight during Season 8 and Season 9 wasn’t too horrible most of the time.
@Dragonchick
Imagine such forced hatred of a fictional character that one takes pride in doing so. Grow up. Your seal ain’t worth Spike’s dragon breath.
Nah, I am just going to ignore the drama about Starlight. But hey op put more effort on thus image than those than those (insert “worse character”) with gun pointing at them XD
This is what I approve, you deserve my dragon seal of approval here, starlight is the worst pony ever, but she’s not the last worst character, Chrysalis stepped her game up atleast, while starlight is just in the garbage can filled with other garbage characters.
I explain how in a way she is/was a Mary Sue, and you blatantly ignore it.
I did explain how her ability to solve every problem with magic just like that, be it right or wrong was made Starlight a Mary Sue. But I guess that doesn’t matter in your little world now does it?
You know what. I’m done talking to the likes of you.
You only see and hear what you want, regardless of what someone else says or what facts are explained. You only ever care what you think.
@chubbyninja89
That’s a whole lot of Quackin, and you have yet to site an accurate example of her being a Mary Sue. And when you complain she uses magic to solve all her problems, they tend not to actually solve her problems. They tend to make things worse.
Now her trading Trixie’s wagon is a whole other kettle of fish not related to her being a Mary Sue. Blame the script writers for handing her the idoit ball that episode, it’s a common complaint about her. It’s usually Trixie pulling all the inconsiderate behavior. Guess they felt the need to even things out with an incredibly selfish act from Starlight.
@Background Pony #FBEC
Oh yeah, because I totally said that the show showed her being in the right for brainwashing them.
I love how people like you put words in the mouths of others and think no one can see through it.
But I’m not even talking about how she learned her lessons, but more so that she was a Mary Sue in the fact that she could pretty much do anything and everything with her magic. She could practically solve every problem with it if she wanted to.
And let’s not forget when she traded Trixie’s wagon without telling her. Yeah, she’s such a completely different person now right?
And that’s what really bothers me about Starlight being made one of the main characters. It’s that she’s still constantly falling into the fault of always thinking she knows better than anyone else. And unlike shyness or something, that kind of thing can be changed or learned away.
And what I mean by learned away is that it can be learned from to the point where it won’t be an issue to happen anymore.
And being an arrogant know it all can be changed if one humbles themselves and accepts that they really don’t know it all.
@chubbyninja89
And how did they respond when they realized they were brainwashed? And how did the show portray it? As she was in the right? In the wrong? In fact by bringing up the major personality flaw of her having to rely on magic to solve her problems makes her seem less like a Mary Sue.
@Background Pony #FBEC
Well she did show some very Mary Sue traits when she was first reformed. Or do I really need to bring up the fact she brainwashed Twilight’s friends?
The fact that she constantly tried to fix any little problem with magic showed that she was constantly relying on her stupidly vast knowledge of magic to do everything for her. And the fact that she could very much do pretty much anything with her magic only adds to that.
@chubbyninja89
Again, another one throwing around the term Mary Sue without looking into what it really means. In fact, based on what we currently know from MLP/EqG, I think Sunset Shimmer would probably score a few points higher on the original Mary Sue Litmus Test than Starlight would.
Yeah, she was kind of annoying in season 6 & 7 from what I remember.
Especially how she mind controlled Twilight’s friends to try to do something for her new castle.

Yeah, she wasn’t that bad in season 8 or 9, from what I’ve seen anyway.
I just hated how she always tried to solve ever problem she ran into with her magic in Season 7, if I remember correctly.
Agreed. Plus her chemistry with Trixie isn’t bad either. Many of her scenes with Sunburst and Trixie weren’t as horrible as the rest. And if we’re being fair, Starlight during Season 8 and Season 9 wasn’t too horrible most of the time.
I see you don’t take any opinions.

Yea, DHX and Hasbro are probably the most at fault.
I don’t really hate her as much as I use to, but I do still hate things about her and how she’s handled as a character.
I remember, but she didn’t learn her lesson after that reformation.
i know you remember watch season 5 maybe?
Glad I’m able to find another person that hates starlight glimmer.
Now that’s just rich.

I can’t disagree with her.
And I know Starlight isn’t as much of a Mary Sue as she use to be, but I still dislike her as a character somewhat.
Unless it’s having to do with the shipping between her and Sunburst. Then I kind of love her a little.

Were you bullied in school?
I think someone is jelly that they didn’t get to punch starlight…
