I imagine this takes place thousands of years in the future, the princesses are dead, and as a result twilight had to take up the mantle. She’s seen the world advance, new technologies bloom, Standards change, whole societies rise and crumble. But she still tries to remember them, the very first friends she ever made. But it’s been so long, she may be immortal but her memories are not. She can barely remember their faces, but she can remember their personalities, their names, what matters. And as she stares out at the world she created she wonders “why do I remain? why couldn’t they have stayed with me, or at least why couldn’t I have gone with them?”
