I dunno, it’s just that Saffron is a great homage to Indian culture, but the afro thing isn’t exactly from there, and I’ve seen that people can get offended by this sorta stuff, epecially due to it being referred to as a ‘fetish’…  
I think the origin of the hairdo began around the 1960’s, very popular with people of African American heritage.
 
Comes from the term ‘afro american’ apparently.
