I guess it all depends on how you choose to look at it. Sure there are a lot of spicy hot peppers out there; but there are also some sweet ones, like green bell peppers.

Capsaicin is basically meant to deter animals and outright kill fungus, so only birds (that taste them as sweet instead) eat the peppers and spread the seeds. Humans just eat them because we’re insane XD

For the record, by the way, pure capsaicin is 16 million Scoville units, which is the stuff they put in police-grade pepper spray. If you eat pure capsaicin, you will go into anaphylactic shock and die.

Nope, but if you want an angry anus you just have to order the Carolina Crime of Passion. Made with cheese, bacon, and a sauce made of Carolina Reaper peppers. You probably don’t want to dare eating it unless you’re a dragon. Comes with your choice of fries, onion rings, or baked gemstones for a side, and a first aid kit :D

The way I see it is the ponies don’t have an issue eating meat, but eating sapient meat is cannibalism to them and nearly all the animals (cows, chickens, pigs, etc) are all fairly sapient so their options are pretty limited. We’ve seen Fluttershy feed fish to ferrets and Rarity’s dad fishing (presumably for food), and not to mention more than a few sandwiches with suspiciously meat-like things in them so I think there’s some level of meat-eating that goes on in canon :D
 
I headcanon though that outside of Equestria such animals aren’t and are just normal animals like in our world, so eating their meat isn’t taboo. Even kirins and lamias (both I headcanon are carnivores) normally don’t kill sapient animals for meat, and the ones that do would be considered murders and cannibals. Most ponies don’t have a taste for meat since they don’t normally get it, but Twilight craves it from her Equestria Girls adventures and imports it from outside of Equestria; Twiggles gave some to GMHAA purely out of fear that if she didn’t, Kalianne would come to her asking for some XD  

The name makes me think Wiener’s Circle, really. I assume that came before the cooking, to allow the chef to work up a good head of steam?
