As much as I daydream like anyone else here, I prefer to be human.
Equines can and do eat meat. Maybe not in Equestria, but in the real world, horses have been known to hunt birds and other small animals.
No hands, very furry, forced vegetarian (or even vegan), walking on all fours and been a prey animal doesn’t sound very welcoming. How would you brush your teeth as an earth pony?
And if only you are a pony and discovered, pray to just be put in a zoo or a freak show.
Or when Poni is with his or her special somepony, as they did.
That logic only counts when Poni is common.
