I referenced my imagination ;p Following basic principles. Keys, breakdowns, in-betweens.  
Everything is done in its time. First goes body, then I animated the bang, then the mane, the ear.

How do you plot motion points? Like, do you reference a real video?

Aye, plotting the motion of several points on an object to ensure it maintains a realistic motion, as well as ensuring that object maintains the same length/volume, is something I always keep in mind when animating, makes the process take forever though.
