I dunno, then they'd just be the normal pony design, with fairy wings, and antenna, which honestly would be a dull design. I like the more unique cutesy preportions they have in G4 that help differ them from ponies more.

(Though, the eyelashes do make it hard to tell that Seabreeze was male.)
 
Also, their design has nothing to do with how "delicate" they are, that was more of for plot.
