Also, I’d like to point this: The show exists mainly to sell toys, and the franchise was registering plenty of drops in 2017. There was a recover thanks to the Movie and its toyline, but unfortunately it didn’t last Long. MLP sales registered a big drop during the first quarter of 2018 (also due to the Death of Toys ‘r Us) so eventually Will drop more as the time passes.
 
Of Course it isn’t enough to be sure of that, we’ll need another report to Know better what fate to expect. But if the S9 has been already planned to be the last one and the toys are not selling, there’s no reason For Hasbro to make the Series keep going, even less changing mind like they did in S3 (plus about that, changing mind about the S3 being the last wasn’t quite “last minute”. When Magical Mystery Cure was locked, the S2 barely started to air. They clearly originally commisioned 65 eps, then with the unexoected success of the S1 and the sales determined by it at the time, they eventually changed mind and commissioned more Seasons. I MIGHT be wrong but if that thing they Said About FiM continuing For 5 more tears back in 2014 was real, then the S9 being the last one was something planned since a very Long time. So there).
