Considering how often the Princesses get their asses kicked, maybe you shouldn’t be selling them so high. Tempest and the Storm King’s army basically steam rolled three out of four of Equestria’s princesses, and that took out all resistance against them because Equestria’s “army” is pretty much useless.

Why would equestria need that when Celestia can use the sun as an orbital death ray and Luna use the moon to make tides and tsunamis to wipe out their enemies? Or just use the moon as a giant mace, if she wanted to. That’s why you don’t see those kind of princesses, because the Celestial princesses have got that covered.

Tempest does sort of have a point.

All four of Equestria’s princesses were at the Friendship Festival and yet there wasn’t a single royal guard or any other form of defense in sight. Taking over Canterlot was more or less a cake walk for her and the Storm King’s army.

Here is our “princess of explosions”.

Wait. Is there really a Princess of hoof-to-hoof combat, a Princess of military air supremacy, and/or a Princess of explosions in Equestria? Or did Tempest just made this up?

And also, Tempest’s former master, the Storm King, managed to conquer the rest of Equestria including Canterlot with the vanguard force while Tempest went away to hunt Twilight down south of Equestria to take her back to the Storm King. And for Discord, you mentioned that he make the entire halidom of Equestria chaotic in the season two premiere, “The Return of Harmony”. Right? (laughing out loud) WRONG!!! He actually made the capital region of Equestria chaotic in the season two premiere. But in an alternate timeline seen in the season five finale, “The Cutie Re-mark”, he did made the entire land of Equestria chaotic.

Tempest single hoofedly incapped 3/4 princesses of Equestria, and managed to conquer the capital with a vanguard force. Discord managed to completely chaosify the entire halidom of Equestria, Chrysalis managed to supplant the most important ponies in Equestria with her forces seemingly overnight, Hell, Sombra out and out brainwashed the entire populace save the mane 6, Shining Armour, Discord, the other princesses, and the pillars….
 
nearly all the villains managed to completely bypass or negate any form of prevention of their conquest, and were only taken down by a rallying of forces after the fact.  
Equestria could do with a reform of its defensive forces and a princess of military might would go a long way to that fact.

Can you even imagine the circumstances that would warrant an alicornification based on military competence?  
As far as we know, the only thing generals have been in charge of are a flight demonstration squadron. That’s what the Blue Angels and by extension the Wonderbolts are.  
Twilight would probably have to fail at diplomacy for the military to be needed, let alone make an impression.  
Unless…is Fizzlepop angling for princesshood based on her military commander experience and her role in the Storm King’s defeat? That’d be a Berrytwist.
