“Know, O Princess, that between the years when the Smooze devoured Dream Valley and its gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the Sons of Starswirl, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars–the Crystal Empire, Griffonia with its chivalry, Saddle Arabia with its dark-maned mares and towers of stone. But the proudest kingdom of the world was Equestria, reigning supreme in the dreaming west.”
Yes, I have mangled a line from Robert E. Howard for this. I hope you’re happy.

Not accurate. It’s true the opening to Conker was referencing A Clockwork Orange, however, the opening to Clockwork was in a milk bar, with our “humble” narrator and his droogs sitting at the top of the “power pyramid” designed out of the milk bar, surrounded by nude mannequins of sex slave women. Conker’s opening took place in a throne room, with Conker as king, surrounded by his friends from earlier on. So while it’s done as a reference to Clockwork, when people see this picture of Twilight Sparkle on a throne looking all mellow, people think more of Conker since Clockwork’s opening had nothing to do with throne rooms (at least on the surface).
Too bad people are too silly to realize that the conkers bad fur day is actually a reference to A clockwork orange and in this case that would technically be the true reference :(
