One of the few remakes that held its ground against the original song or proved its better. Though as stated it took major talent to make something that could fit so well with the powerful theme and tone of Cash near the end of his road when he sung it.

Damn. I never knew that the original song was made by Nine Inch Nails. I know NIN for the song Closer. It’s quite a crazy song to know them for. It’s so powerful that such a band could have inspired Cash to make his amazing cover.

Heh, none of the words used here differentiate it between the two (crown of thorns/crown of shit) and even then, Reznor did the PG version to make a SFW one. Cash did a nice cover, but this song will always remind me of the fight Reznor has had against heroin, and how he managed to turn his life around.
