Hooves stinging, body aching, she couldn’t wait to get home to her apartment. Manehatten surely never slept, but the exhausted gold maned mare couldn’t be any happier to be home. Traveling on vacation was supposed to be relaxing, but instead it was a bit straining, hopping from city to city for fun away from work. The precinct could be very unforgiving at times. Case after case was how she spent her Hearth’s Warming holiday.
???: tosses her suitcase on her bed Finally home.~ stretches her back as it popped slightly Mmm… ears perk as her phone chimes
Reaching into her pocket, she groaned at the ID of the caller. Great… Work calls already.
???: answers, putting the phone to her ear Deputy?
Deputy: Golden, I know you’re just coming off break, but you have a new case.
Golden: sighs Your timing is impeccable, sir…. What is it this time?
Deputy: There was a incident on Capricorn Reef. I need you to look into a background check that was requested of us.
Golden: Pssh, Capricorn Reef..? That little tourist island on the other side of Equestria..?!
Deputy: I know what you’re going to say, but it was requested that the Manehatten precinct looked into this.
Golden: looks at her desk and sees a yellow folder sitting on it So what’s the situation..?
Deputy: Solar company CEO’s son was mauled after he attempted an attack on three other ponies, after getting into it with another stallion. A hybrid.
Golden: Did he get away? **reads the name tab on the folder…. “Mako” **
Deputy: No, he has been arrested and sent to prison. But it was the other stallion that was asked to be looked into.
Golden: Hmm… I’m guessing it’s this, Mako stallion?
Deputy: Mmhmm. The two got into a pretty bad fight, and the nature of it wasn’t exactly your average knife or fist fight.
Golden: looking through photos Sure as hell doesn’t look that way…. Goddesses..
Photos of the CEO’s son’s injuries as well as features of Mako were inside. Looking through them all, it was almost unbelievable a pony left these kinds of injuries behind. But from the looks of Mako’s claws and teeth, it was easy to see how.
Golden: Looks like the fight was a personal one… Says here he has a restraining order on, Sunstreak?
Deputy: It was more than personal. Apparently it was a, “ex-coltfriend comes into town” sort of situation.
Golden: Hmmm… ears perk That’s strange…
Looking over the next few papers in the file, Golden didn’t see much else, apart from information about Mako’s location. Where was everything else…?
Golden: Not a lot of a paper trail here, chief… This some kind of test?
Deputy: Hmph, if only. Mako doesn’t have a lot of information on file that we could really pull, apart from where he lives, what he does, and all the permits he has for his job.
Golden: Family? Date of birth, mother’s maiden name?
Deputy: Nothing…. That’s why I need you to go to the Reef, and find out who this stallion really is. Such a thin trail in record isn’t something to ignore. Inflicting injuries like this, for all we know he could be a fugitive from outside of Equestria.
Golden: Clearly…. Alright, give me a week or so. I’ll get there and sort this out, get the information I need from him.
Deputy: I knew I could count on you.
Golden: Hmhmhm.~ Was there any doubt?~
Hanging up and tossing her phone on her bed, Golden closed to file. Walking steadily to the corner windows of her apartment, she stared out passed the large buildings and bright lights.
“This isn’t a first for me… They always think they can hide everything from the law, until they get caught up in something too serious to ignore. Hmhmhm, this will be a cakewalk, just like all the others…. Whatever you’re hiding, Mr. Mako, I’ll find it. I always get what I want, in the end.~”
