I think they’re more going on about how girls don’t write down things like “gives me butterflies!” or put little hearts and kisses everywhere.
 
For the record, they’d be wrong; my sister and her friends did all these things in their little notebooks and wall boards and such. That was also in the 90s, before everyone had a cellphone and before social media. Which is probably the world the creators of these things come from and pull from.
