Yeah, looks to me like the jury’s still out on that one. All the studies done so far have contradictory results, and the ones that do show a higher incidence of domestic violence among homosexual couples have problems with sample selection.

LyraBon has been seeing hardcore ship teasing since 2013 and nothing has come of it yet. There’s a bunch of people out there who think their favorite OTP is canon now because they hugged and exchanged gifts on Hearts and Hooves Day.
 
Except that the CMC gave Cheerilee a gift in the episode the holiday was introduced in, a pretty clear example of platonic and friendly gift giving. A lot of people forget that Valentine’s Day is about love. Not just romantic love, but all kinds of love.
