I dont think you realise you cant reference real life horses since these ponies have magic, wings and can talk.
Whatever specie these characters are, it is equine-like, but definitely not a member of the horse family as we know it.
The artists on the show seem to forget that sometimes too.
I don’t think the artist realizes that a horse’s tail is more than just hair growing out of her butt.
