Hasbro is looking at the big picture. Namely, that MLP and Transformers are their only two in-house franchises with a pulse, so they gotta milk them for all I got. I mean, I haven’t checked, but I’m sure Transformers fans were pissy that Cyberverse ended, but it was necessary to make War for Cybertron happen.

It’s clear from Meghan McCarthy’s emails with the staff that nothing of the sort is happening. G5 will in fact be a more fantasy based series with stronger continuity between episodes.

I get that they’ll be going for something completely new… but we’re already used to a very convincing universe right now.
 
I’m thinking the new show may lose a lot of the current fandom, if they create a new universe that doesn’t follow similar principles as the current one.

No. They complain too. We’re just used it at this point. That being said if Transformers can make a critically acclaimed and well loved reboots before (like Beast Wars, Animated, and Prime), it can be done with MLP too.

Yeah, G5 isn’t a good idea in my opinion because MLP: FIM had such a historical impact on pop culture.
