(The irony is that the song was written in the 1980s, and was about a guy plucked from his present time to the distant future of 2095. Referring to the current day as “uncomplicated” is the essence of the joke.  
Also, I will never give up our access to the Information Superhighway with portable supercomputers and global connectivity. We’re living in the future.)

Ok buddy
I predict the following: Rarity sees this trend as unacceptable, then tries to show everyone what good fashion looks like, and gets fluttershy to model it for her, and the comic ends with rarity accepting that her view isnt always the right one.

Maybe she’s interested in the fashions of more kinds of intelligent species than just ponies? “Person” has often been used in similar manner before.
