Well, Flash did help Sunset to get back her geode in the middle of a battle with a killer robot that really took a dent in him…
Wait, what was I trying to disprove here?

So, what I’m seeing here is that Prince Blueblood and Timber would get along?

enough! stop saying nonsense. He does not use her as a shield, he is scared, all the others are scared for something or person and hide behind the person. timber loves her. you liar. No one’s a liar but you are.

Also, Twilight would make a terrible shield for Timber, she’s shorter than him and thinner than him, so even if he crouches down, a lot of him would still be exposed. Plus, even if she could properly cover him, she’s made out of meat and bones, not exactly durable.

Disclaimer: This was meant as a joke. I am not condoning the use of living, breathing people as shields.

Well. The problem is exactly that they gave little exposure to their persona and motivations, as well as context, in order to focus on the romance part. As such they looked like jerks even if there was something else.

To be fair, I think without the romance, Gloriosa and Timber would come of more sympathetic.

As it really takes up a LOT of the movie’a runing time, not amounting to nothing in the end, aside from pairing up Twilight and Timber.

I mean, in the rine romance took up, or at least if it took up less time, the writers could flesh out Gloriosa at all, give any satisfactory conclusion to the story with Filthy Ritch, and tell anything about Timber and Gloriosa’s parents, aside that they existed.

Because of this, I kinda feel sorry for Gloriosa - she ws in Legend of Everfree’s earliest promotional materials, but had a pretty minor role in her own movie, the focus being taken for the baddly written romance.

And yes, Gloriosa was psychotic, but it was seemingly due to the geodes eating away her sanity.

Well. I am starting to wonder. Filthy Rich wanted to use the land for something else because the camp was becoming a failure and they needed money… And I guess we could imagine why. Two irresponsible barely adults were in charge.

Early on almost anyone could interpret the incidents as acts of sabotage from Rich himself, but as they become stranger one realizes there is something else… In the end that something else is Gloriosa sabotaging her own efforts to save the camp by becoming a psycho. Well… A magical psycho, she is clearly a psycho before the geodes, she is clinically neurotic.

That makes me think. Considering the camp was in much better state, economically speaking, back when Celestia and Luna were students, one could assume it was their parents who managed it, and in their unexplained absence (Anyone else assumes if it was not a kid’s show Gloriosa would be the killer?), their children managed to ruin everything.

In fact that was something I once discussed with my history teacher. “The grandfather builds, the father preserves, the son botches it all up!”

I agree with Background Pony #01F6 I liked the episode, as it shown specifically how he is a fifth wheel, with his flirting being shown as done at a completely wrong moment, and ignored by Sci-Twi.
(And they even animated him with the memetic Woody molester face when doing it).

And the crowning moment was when Timber was shown as a selfish coward, that would use his own girlfriend as a shield, and fail also because that in his job as a lifeguard.

And as a cherry in top, Twilight finally is mad at the idiot.

I mean, it’s as if the writers themselves at least disliked Timber, and shown it as much as they could.

I LOVE this episode.

And yes, it’s fully accurate to Timber’s previous characterisation - Timber allways was horrible at being responsible for lives and safety of others. I mean, he covered for his sister, even after her magic started to endanger the campers, and even b*tched how Gloriosa revealing herself ruined gis efforts - when ge was shown trying to cover for Gloriosa up until the very end.

And he didn’t even try to, you know, TAKE AWAY Gloriosa’s geodes.

And that’s even not mentioning how his actions immensely hurt Sci-Twi.

Maybe this originally was just due to atrocious writing, but now writers seemingly fully gone with expanding on Timber’s screw ups in Legend of Everfree.

Yeah. The entire show, and even episode is not bad. But sincerely Timber should be axed out of it. He is poorly written. Either they are planning to eventually make a subplot of Twilight ending the relationship because he is a failure, or they have some really nasty standards in love relationships.

God. Yes I understand. I have always seen the Timberlight relationship wrong. Always bafore and after LoE. Timber in the movie gets to tease his sister just to make Sci-Twi laugh, even though he knows she, his sister, feels bad. It’s very counterproductive.

However, in this short everything is to laugh. BUT, yes, this leaves Timber wrong, but it doesn’t make the episode bad. Mind you, I’ve always said it, Timber is capable of doing these things. He is very immature, and that is the worst. His cowardice is completely credible for all his attitude. There aren’t even excuses to say that this is bad writing, because Timber IS like that.

Timberlight is not a well-written romantic relationship. It’s bad. Hopefully, this doesn’t get worse.

As I wrote bellow, that explanation doesn’t work for many reasons.

Firstly, Timber used Twilight as a shield pretty immidately, seemingly on instinct, so there was no time really for him to think “Twilight can use her powers, it would be best to hide behind her (use her as a shield)”.

So basically, this short shows Timber’s first instinct, is to use his romantic partner as a shield.
How romantic.

And even if we assume Timber thought about Twilight having powers, it doesn’t justify him using her a shield.

Or do you claim Timber is justified, to USE HIS OWN GIRLFRIEND as a shield against danger. Just because she hs powers. Even though Twilight doesn’t have super durability powers.

That’s not logical behavior, that’s immense selfishness, essentially him counting Twilight will be hurt instead of him.

To add how bad this situation looks, as others mentioned, Timber is a LIFEGUARD, it’s his responsibility to protect others. And should be ready to deal with dangerous sea animals.

And fails at all of that

It’s absurd people try to sweep this under the rug, as Twilight wss shown visibly angry at Timber for his selflish behaviour:
>>1678665t (merged)

Which means even the short does frame Timber’s action as at least somewhat bad.
Background Pony #6E4C
Personally, I think Timber Spruce has reached a level of bad that’s actually starting to make him funny, unshippable but funny.
Background Pony #6572
Technically, Twilight does have a magical geode. So she would be their only defense.
