Well, to give my own part, is is a pretty interesting coicidence they gave that line at that right moment.
Dunno, it seems to me naive and/or unrealistic to me to claim, the writers gave that line at that right moment, and didn’t realize how it looks. Especially seeing Forgotten Friendship was released closelly after Valentine’s Day.
(Yes, without the line, this moment doesn’t look shippy, but the line at the exact moment? I think it changes the context.)
And there are the other shippy looking moments Background Pony #FDFF mentioned.

The line from the trailer was probably said because forgotten friendship was released some days after valentine day, I mean, at the end there was like nothing related to “love” in the movie, they just used it to reference that one specific day. So the trailer one doesn’t count, they just did a friendly stare like alot of us humans do. Just wanted to point this out, even tho it make it look like a shippy looking moment the sooooooooooo called “line” didn’t make it in
In context, “accusation” was the wrong word to use - I think “theory”, “opinion” or “observation” tell much better what I meant, ie Is that all above kinda subjective? Yes, but as is your opionion about people projecting…

But is Alexlayer really doing so?
Timber is here presented in a surprisingly bad light - he essentially uses Twilight as a cover, to defend himself from danger/harm. Yes, he does it on instinct, but that also doesn’t exactly speak well of him.
And he could be presented as very scared in many other funny ways - - he could scream and panic the most, he could faint, he could even run, and he would be excuses with thinking others would do the same. But no - he used his girlfriend as a shield to defend himself. Something Twilight isn’t hown to be amused about.
To add to it, Timber is a lifeguard, someone responcible for the safety of others on the beach, making him look terrible at his job.
Dunno, it just really can come of as if the writers wanted to present Timber as badly as they could in this moment. If they don’t dislike him, or his romance with Twilight (which possibly they are forced to write by higher ups, and this is them showing their feelings on it?), that’s not the best decision present Timber, especially seeing they had several alternatives I pointed out recently.
This also seems a callback/reference to Sunset’s behavior in Legend of Everfree - only that there Sunset, when hearing Twilight scream, instantly awoke, half-wake, but ready to defend Twilight, also on instinct. But the reaction was completelly opposite to Timber’s.
Human Twilight and Sunset also had recently at least severall sursprising (at least subjectivelly) shippy looking moments recently in Forgotten Friendship:
