I really appreciate the polite response, sadly I don’t see that nearly enough on this site. While I personally don’t believe my ponies resemble dogs specifically, I will agree that my pony style currently reflects a more “furry” style for sure. This stylistic change was a conscious decision on my part as I am far more influenced by furry art overall. To me, MLP style ponies are too simplistic to fully hold my interest, so over the years I’ve begun to add more fleshed out features such as more detailed limbs, larger ears, extra fur, different muzzle shape/structure, etc. I’m fully capable of drawing ponies close to show style, but I’ve intentionally pulled farther away from that because that more simplistic style doesn’t appeal to me much.
 
That being said, I can still look at my work and see pony, albeit much more stylized than how they’re drawn in the show. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having more of a “hybrid” style, however a lot of people here especially tend to be pretty negative about it unfortunately.

one of the main things i notice with your pony art that looks less like ponies and more like generic furry stuff is the inclusion of humanoid anatomy, like those human-like shoulders and those human-jointed arms we see in this photo. Also the dog stuff is definitely those head shapes, especially those snout/muzzle shapes - very doglike. Overall it looks like it was originally drawn as humanlike poses and then furry stuff like fur and the ears and the muzzles were added on top, and then the hooves were added at the end of their limbs to make it pony. Pony anatomy and poses are something you don’t see with the more furry-like art from people like Ralek and yourself. Some artist just can’t draw pony-like anatomy or poses and others just choose not to draw pony-like anatomy or poses.

The most “drastic” change I’ve intentionally made to my work within the last few months is adding more/longer tufts of fur in different places along the body. If that’s all it takes to make a pony look like a dog, that’s pretty impressive.
 
I was a furry long before I knew of MLP and I prefer furry art in general, so that potentially influences the way I draw everything, as well.
 
Neither my pony style nor Leak’s seem to be all that doglike to me, but I know that’s a popular jab people like to take when they don’t have any other compelling arguments.

Have you guys noticed that Meggchan’s ponies are starting to look less and less like ponies and more like furries/dogs like how Ralek draws dogs instead of ponies?
