I think that this is quite an interesting interpretation, honestly. Though, as Equestria is at present arguably a tetrarchy, plus Discord, a polytheistic religion might be better suited. This is not altogether a stretch; as Campbell found, the story of Jesus is a prime example of a ‘monomyth’, i.e., has roots in other cultures, notably in the birth of Dionysus. There are other examples, but that’s the only one I can recall specifically, though I think there was a similar pattern in Egypt and possibly India.  
The show itself will certainly never truly address the religious implications of the Equestrian system of direct theocracy, though it could certainly be funny if it did. Imagine comparing Celestia to Mitunas Titunas! Prime “Molestia” material there, I suppose. Sibling deities who control the sun and moon are another common mythical theme, as well, and it would be fascinating to see who Discord would be equated to. Probably not Satan, nor yet Lucifer. Hermes or another Trickster might be more apropos.  
Then again, my running theory is that they’re all benevolent Lovecraftian elder ones in more-or-less disguise, so what do I know.

My point being there is literally no mention of it at all at any point. If it were true Im pretty sure that would be been mentioned in the first Equestria girls movie Since Celestia only ever refers to her as her old student.

By the way this thing is better because it was in Evangelion. :3
