Oh look, another alicorn develops split personality disorder. Thankfully she’s the Princess of Friendship.

“Hello, Queen of Nonexistence. Lovely weather we’re having.”  
“You can scoff all you like, but when your friends are feeding the worms, we both know who you’ll turn to.”  
“What, all of them?”  
“Excuse me?”  
“Did you really think I never considered the consequences of immortality? I mean, you’re a part of my subconscious, aren’t you?”  
“I am what remains when you finally shed the comfortable lies Celestia swaddled you with.”  
“I’ll take that as a yes. Therefore, if you can conceive of my friends dying, so can I. And I have. A lot.”  
“And so you understand how futile friendship really is.”  
“Uh, no. Remember what life was like before Nightmare Moon? I was miserable; I just didn’t know it. Friends are what make life worth living.”  
“But they will leave you in time, and then what?”  
“Obviously, I’ll have made new friends by then. Already doing that now: Starlight, Tempest, even Trixie. Sort of.”  
“And how long do you think you can keep that up? How long before you find yourself on a pedestal as tall as Celestia’s, untouchable by the common masses?”  
“Assuming that the sixty-step plan to keep myself approachable falls through, I’ll still have the other princesses. And that assumes my friends don’t ascend themselves.”  
“That’s a pipe dream and you know it.”  
“Of course. But without hope, I’m no better than you.”  
“‘Better?’ I am the better one!”  
“Uh huh.”  
“Get back here! I’m not done with my argument yet!”  
“It’s inherently fallacious and is being argued in poor faith. Luna? I’d like to wake up now.”  
“I’m never going away, Sparkle! I’ll always be in the back of your mind, waiting for you to see just how weak you really are!”  
“Then you’ll be waiting for a very long time.”
