Why yes, you get the archetype I was going for!

I’m pretty sure this is why they’re likely going for EP Twilight. Earth Ponies are as close to mundane and ordinary as Ponies. Thus, being an Earth Pony who grew up in a small Earth Pony town with the other two tribes literal worlds away is the perfect place for Twilight to begin her Hero’s Journey.

Earth Pony World is the Ordinary World. Unicorn World, Pegasus World, and all the other Worlds are collectively the Special World. Thus, Earth Pony Twilight Sparkle.

Hell, I’m going to make a prediction, and say Twilight starts off as a Blank Flank at the very beginning of the series (with the fact that she was still a Blank Flank as a full grown mare being a central part of her backstory; expect lots of woobie flashbacks of her getting bullied). Getting her CM will be her Supernatural Aid, preceded by her meeting with a Pegasus or Unicorn as her Call to Adventure (probably Dashie; she seems to be the perfect sort for this role).

I’m honestly a little baffled that more people didn’t pick up on this as soon as it was revealed G5 was going the serialized route.

1. They can go the Zecora route and have her use magic through potions instead of standard unicorn magic. Scrolls, chants, wands, etc. There’s other ways outside of the unicorn horn.
2. They could give Earth Ponies magic (granted they already have some in canon already, but this show could give them different powers).

How can you write an interesting plot for non-magic related Main Character?

1. They can go the Zecora route and have her use magic through potions instead of standard unicorn magic. Scrolls, chants, wands, etc. There’s other ways outside of the unicorn horn.  
2. They could give Earth Ponies magic (granted they already have some in canon already, but this show could give them different powers).

You can not compare G4 to the old ones, every thing that is current in this fandom originated with g4, its weight is much bigger.

That is objectively false. G4 has carried over a lot of elements – characters, species, worldbuilding elements – from the previous generations, both G1 and G3, which have clearly had their impact on its current development. G4 wouldn’t be what it is now if it had started as a truly blank slate, rather than an incarnation of something with a longer history.

Even as far as the fandom itself goes, why do you think so many people were excited to see Tirek and Scorpan in the show? Why do you think so many people have wanted Grogar to be in it, too? And for that matter, why do so many fan works use Grogar and Catrina and Hydia as villains, and Tirek too before the Season 4 finale? Why is the headcanon that G1 is G4’s distant past so popular? Why was the headcanon that Firefly is Rainbow Dash’s mom so popular?

G4 did not originate in a vacuum: its creators drew on MLP’s previous history and themes when they made it, and many of its fans were either fans of previous MLP gens or came to like them afterwards. When you look at the franchise as a whole, you do need to consider how generations besides G4 have worked and how reboots typically work… and the proposed G4 -> G5 reboot is by all appearances a fairly typical one. A lot of things will carry over, a lot will be reinvented or introduced or discarded, and like every other gen it will not share continuity with eh others.
