“I wouldn’t say that the green was to represent evil,” as he says. In fact, it seems to basically be that her magic changed because she changed. I don’t see the problem.
The fanon explanation that her magic is coming from the power of the “geode” feels a lot better than “We changed it from evil green to friendly red” because in no part of the world is green bad and red good. That’s backwards. K.Hadley, I’m calling this bullshit.
Well, I think it shows her evolution since she last visited Equestria on-screen, even if they do have lots of errors they make with certain background/other ponies having different cutie marks and magic auras in several appearances they made, at least in the older seasons from what I’ve seen. Haven’t looked anything up in regards to that stuff in later seasons, despite that they did intentionally change one of the MAIN characters’ magic auras as of Season 2, so that wasn’t as hard to miss.
But as stated, I think it’s about how she was intentionally selfish as of her Equestria appearance in the first film and has become an excellent friend and user of magic in the other realm, even if I don’t think the color itself means anything. I definitely look forward to seeing how they continue this spin-off series, even if Sunset and certain others’ll never be canon to the actual series. And honestly, I thought from otherwise minor references to Equestria/Equestrian magic and Princess Twilight, it’d be going in its own direction and would have no more visits to Equestria/from Equestrian Twilight. But it was great to see her as a pony again, as minor as it was!

I’m not sure if I myself like the change, but that’s because I like it when a unicorn’s magic matches their eye color.
