Background/Personality:

Prince Shinning Breeze is the second child and only son of Princess Cadence and Shinning Armor. Breeze was originally conceived after pressure came from Star Swirl the Bearded who wanted to see if Princess Cadence could make another alicorn child. After the “disappointing birth” of the pegasus, according to Star Swirl, and some harsh words from Shinning Armor, Star Swirl the Bearded left the Crystal Empire, leaving the royal family to fawn over their new son. The Crystal Empire loved their new royal child, even if he was not born an alicorn like his beloved sister Princess Flurry Heart. However, despite the love from his parents and the praise of the crystal ponies, Breeze seemed to remain in the shadow of his royal family, especially his sister Princess Flurry Heart. Between the princess’s royal lessons, political issues, and the day-to-day chores of running a kingdom, it seemed that Princess Cadence and Shinning Armor unconsciously left their son in the shadows. Breeze himself did not command attention: alongside a scrawny physique and poor eyesight, the colt was reserved and quiet. The only ponies that managed to bring out the true Breeze during his colthood were the crystal castle staff: the colt loved learning more about his family’s staff and how the castle worked. Although he enjoyed the company of every staff member, Breeze felt particularly attached to the royal treasurer. Whenever he could, Breeze escaped to the royal treasury where he loved counting the coins, adding numbers, and reading accounts. Upon seeing the small prince’s interests in the coins, the royal treasurer decided to help the small colt make his own account with his royal allowance. Through his colthood and into his teenage years, Breeze saved every coin he could, some of which were gifted by castle staff who loved seeing the colt light up when he saw exotic currency. All of the efforts from various members of the castle staff, especially the royal treasurer, eventually led Breeze to gain his cutie mark in bookkeeping, of which the colt gained after balancing his first account book. When the day came that Breeze reached adulthood, the royal treasurer offered the stallion an assistantship so the stallion may someday take over the job. Breeze accepted the job not because he wanted to take over the job someday, but because the stallion felt like he mattered with helping maintain his family’s money instead of being seen as just the “spare” heir.

Although Prince Shinning Breeze constantly lives under the shadow of his older sister, the stallion never grew resentful of his royal family: the stallion is even grateful since he could pursue his passions without interference. Breeze is a reserved but witty stallion who both likes peaceful silence and a good laugh. As an adult, Breeze out grew his crippling quiet voice and gained smart observance, preferring to think before making calculated moves. Despite his calculated moves, the prince is also an awkward nerd and sometimes forgets how to address ponies like a prince.

Relationships:

Prince Shinning Breeze loves his mother, father, and sister as any son and brother; however with a colthood in the shadows and often accidentally forgotten, the stallion seems to be slightly reserved around his family, especially during royal duties.

As a non-alicorn and second heir, Breeze is constantly compared to his sister Princess Flurry Heart who seems to thrive on the attention given to her. Although there is some tension between the two siblings, they both love each other through bickering, poking fun at, and simply being brother and sister. The siblings get along much better in adulthood as supposed to during their childhoods.

Breeze seems to enjoy his extended family more than his immediate family, at least his cousin Dawn Dreamer since they both are not alicorns and share similar talents and interests. During the few moments Flurry Heart babysat the younger unicorn princess, Breeze tagged along and made his older sister’s job just that much harder. However after the incident of Dawn Dreamer’s kidnapping, alongside the various growing responsibilities of the royal children, the cousins see each other less and less.

Breeze seemed to isolate himself during his young colthood, with most of his friends being the crystal castle staff. However, the stallion does have friends outside of the crystal empire, mostly sharing friends with Dawn Dreamer such as Feather Dart and Pinni Pie. Breeze also has a small attraction to Dawn’s friend Amethyst Swirl who very well knows it and loves flirting with the prince.

Special:

-Prince Shinning Breeze’s cutie mark is a bookkeeping account book with a quill and the Sparkle family emblem. The mark symbolizes Shinning Breeze’s talent in bookkeeping and his connection to the Sparkle family despite him being a pegasus.
  • Breeze loves Sudoku and will solve puzzles during his free time.
  • Despite the quill in his cutie mark, Breeze favors writing with his own hooves rather than a quill: he developed his own technique for delicate hoof-writing.
  • Breeze is particularly attached to his grandfather, Night Light since they both enjoy the same activities. Breeze will often spend some weekends with his grandfather where they both enjoy tea and number puzzles by a roaring fireplace.
  • Breeze does not share the physique or athleticism of his father. Shinning Armor tried to bring out the athlete in his son when the pink stallion was a small colt through sports; however, the pink stallion only seemed to get bruises when playing sports with his dad.
